In this week’s episode of The Crossing, A gruesome discovery brings Jude (Steve Zahn) to the camp. While this may seem to be a tragedy, Paul (Rob Campbell) is taken as the suspect; an unusual way of having him reunite with his wife, Greta (Melinda McGraw). The residents find out about the people being held inside the camp, so they start to riot. Meanwhile, Reece (Natalie Martinez) is captured by Craig (Jay Karnes), and he has Dr. Forbin (Georgina Haig) work on her.
Harsh Imprisonment
Reece is alongside a fellow soldier in one of their missions. As they take a look around the area, she sees a photo of Jude’s son, Oliver (Christian Michael Cooper). As Reece makes her way inside the house, she has flashbacks. Suddenly, it is revealed that she is strapped to an operating table, under the supervision of Craig and a Doctor.
The Doctor checks on Reece, but he still had zero response from her. This time, Greta was there with them. Greta tells the doctor to proceed with the operation regardless of Reece’s consciousness. However, the doctor reasons out that the DNA would die the moment he would try to extract it from Reece. Because of this, Craig thought of a plan to get Reece back to consciousness. He reaches out to Dr. Forbin who was confined to a hospital right after her accident that triggered her condition. He presents her with a proposition where he would not arrest her for collaborating with Reece, but she had to help him with something. Dr. Forbin agrees to these conditions then they immediately head for the site.
Dr. Forbin is surprised to see the conditions they are keeping Reece in. She tries to reason out that Reece should be given a chance to cooperate, but Craig insists that the precautions are necessary. Also, he would need Dr. Forbin’s help in getting Reece to cooperate even with the restraints on since she was unconscious. The doctor gives Dr. Forbin his diagnostics; then she proceeds to engage Reece.
Inside her mind, Reece has flashbacks of her time with Leah. She hears Dr. Forbin’s voice, then she awakens. She immediately asks for Leah. Outside the Laboratory, the doctor asks Craig about his plan if in case Dr. Forbin realizes what they are really doing, but Craig reassures him that she would not be able to find anything and that she is dying in a few days.
Reece talks to Dr. Forbin about Craig and his companions, telling her that they are lying to her. She tells Reece that they are only after extracting her genetic properties, but Reece counters this by saying that Dr. Forbin is only doing that for herself. After a while, Reece warns her not to push through with what she is doing, telling her that she could die. Dr. Forbin promises to come back for her right before she leaves the lab.
Before she leaves the facility, Craig searches Dr. Forbin’s bag. He tells her that she is welcome to continue her research, but she is only to do so inside his lab. He finds nothing in her bag, so he lets her go. Dr. Forbin enters her car. She opens a hidden compartment in her cane where she kept a vial of Reece’s blood.
The Locals
Residents gather at the pub, demanding Jude, Nestor (Rick Gomez), and Mayor Conway (Natalie Brown) for an explanation of the situation at the camp. They try to have them settle down until Gabe (Toby Hemingway) enters the pub. Gabe stirs the crowd up, and they eventually follow his lead. They locals exit the pub. Jude and Nestor scramble to keep the peace between the Townsfolk and the survivors.
They reach the docks, and they find the locals there, getting ready to storm the camp. Jude places Nestor in charge of the situation while he goes to the camp to warn Agent Foster (Luc Roderique) about the situation. While Jude drives away, Gabe calls Marshall (Tommy Bastow) to tell him about what they are going to do. Marshall dismisses this, saying that he is not going.
Upon arriving there he is greeted by some cocky HSI agents, that is until he tells them the situation. They immediately call for Agent Foster. Agent Foster arrives, telling Jude that he has something to show him. Meanwhile, Nestor and his team try to hold the crowd. Jude then checks on Nestor, asking him about the situation. He tells him that he is entering the camp with Agent Foster then he ends the call. Just as the call ends, the tensions start to rise, so Nestor ends up arresting some of the locals.
Nestor announces what Jude had found out about the situation in the camp. After this, he requests the crowd to disperse since investigation teams would be coming back and forth along the road that they had been blocking. The locals visibly calm down and reconsider their actions. That evening, Nestor talks to the last prisoner from the situation that day. Nestor enters Jude’s office. Jude tells him about what he had seen and how it did not make any sense to him, then he shows Nestor the keys. He would use it to track Emma’s whereabouts through the data it has kept.
Gabe talks to Marshall on the phone, telling him what happened. After their short conversation, someone knocks on Marshall’s door. This turns out to be Roy. They have a short exchange until Roy gives him Hannah’s locket. Marshall opens it, and then he finds a photo of himself inside.
Trouble In The Camp
Rebbeca (Simone Kessell) talks to Caleb (Marcuis Harris) about the loss of Leah (Bailey Skodje) as well as their biological daughter. Caleb tries to comfort her, saying that Leah loves Reece so she must be safe with her, regardless of the fact that she is an Apex. Rebecca expresses her envy over Caleb’s way of keeping his feelings in check. Naomi (Josette Canilao) passes by their table, then Rebecca suddenly has an idea in mind. She follows Naomi into her cabin; then she talks to her.
Hannah (Kelley Missal) finds Roy eating an apple pie outside her cabin. She is visibly surprised, then Roy tells her a childhood story before he offers her some apple pie. After this, he expresses his desire to know Hannah more; then he hands her the locket. Hannah then tells him the truth about their origin, which Roy does not believe at first. A young boy who was also a survivor then interrupts them, saying that he had found something.
Rebecca asks Naomi if she knew her daughter, Rachel. While Naomi did not know who Rachel was, she was still able to comfort Rebecca by saying that her daughter would not be alone, since the Apex work in groups. They have a conversation that led Rebecca to be influenced by Naomi. Rebecca and Naomi continue to talk inside her cabin. Naomi tells her about a mission she has to accomplish, and that she would need people like her to make it happen.
Jude notices that everyone in the camp was moved away from where they were going to. Agent Foster brings Jude to the site that the boy had pointed out. Apparently, the boy had found a dead body. Not just any dead body; it was Emma. Jude is shocked and disappointed at this discovery. Jude and Agent Foster discuss their theories about what had happened until one of the Agents calls Agent Foster. While the two of them talk, Jude searches Emma’s pockets, and he finds her car keys which he keeps.
The HSI agents start a cabin search. The survivors wait for them inside the mess hall. Eventually, the men find Emma’s missing gun inside a locker. They enter the mess hall then they arrest Paul. Roy expresses his confusion over this to Jude, telling him about their conversation. The survivors are then dismissed. Jude approaches Paul and tells him that he believes him, then he gives him a calling card so that he could reach Jude if they let him have a phone call.
Agent Foster talks to Craig on the phone. After he reports to Craig, he is ordered to escort Jude out of the camp. He tries to reason out that keeping Jude involved would be good for transparency, but Craig insists on his orders, so Agent Foster had to follow them. Jude was not surprised with this; then he leaves alone.
While Caleb was sleeping, Rebecca left their cabin. She went to Naomi’s cottage. When she enters, she finds other survivors with her. Naomi welcomes her in. Meanwhile, Jude receives the data inside Emma’s keys from Martin (Wolé Parks).
A Strange Reunion
Paul exits his cabin. Outside, he finds Roy (Grant Harvey) standing as the guard. He asks him about Emma (Sandrine Holt) who has been missing for ten days. Roy assures him that Emma was just on sick leave and that she will be back soon. Paul then leaves the area.
The HSI agents conduct a cabin search inside the camp. Apparently, a dead body was found inside the camp, and they were looking around to find a suspect. When the HSI agents arrive in the mess hall where the survivors were waiting, they arrest Paul. Paul tries to argue his innocence and that he had no involvement in what had happened.
Paul is kept waiting inside a room. The door opens, then his wife, Greta, whom he calls Eve, comes in. He starts to break down; then he regains composure. He expresses his disbelief over what has happened. They talk about what had happened to the both of them. She tells Paul about a new mission, and that she would need his help.
Greta gave Paul a script to read while she prepares to videotape him. She explains the relevance if what they are to do. Paul reluctantly agrees with her. Greta takes Paul out to the pier. Paul is amazed at what he sees; then he asks her when he was to meet the others who made it with her. After that, he points out the ignorance of the people who prefer to look at their smartphones.
Sometime later, Greta shows Paul’s video clip to Craig. Craig asked if there was another way, but she says that this is their best cover up for what had happened on the beach.
The Crossing continues next Monday, June 4th, with “Hope Smiles From The Threshold” at 10/9c on ABC.
