In this week’s episode of The Crossing, Craig Lindauer (Jay Karnes) makes a sudden gesture of goodwill by allowing a selected number of refugees to visit the town, an action that triggers suspicion in Jude (Steve Zahn). Hannah (Kelley Missal) is reunited with Marshall (Tommy Bastow), and she decides to tell him the truth of her story; something that Marshall was not ready for. A new survivor awakens, whom Caleb (Marcuis Harris) discovers as an Apex insider.
A New Survivor
Naomi (Josette Canilao) wakes up on her bed, coughing out sea water. The attending nurse tends to her, surprised to see her recover. Dr. Fleischer (Andres Joseph) explains her diagnostics to her and provides her with the treatment necessary for her recovery. She asks them if a man named Eli had made it to the camp with them, and they tell her that no one with that name made it. Satisfied, she sighs in relief then tells them that she has tasks at hand.
The nurse leads Naomi to her new home. Naomi asks her about who is in charge of the camp, and she tells her that it is Agent Foster, who is at the town for the time being. Naomi says that she needs to talk to him, so the nurse tells her to wait for him to arrive back in camp. Right before the nurse leaves, Naomie asks her for markers. She eventually acquires a box of markers. Then, she starts writing in an unknown script on the walls of the cabin.
Caleb finds Paul (Rob Campbell), and the rest of the refugees gathered around Naomi’s cabin. Paul points him to what the fuss is all about. When he looks inside, he sees the interior walls of the cabin written on with an unknown script, a script that he recognizes instantly. Caleb asks to enter Naomi’s cottage, then Naomi lets him in. Caleb asks him why he was able to write in Apex; then she reveals that they have marked her.
Reunited
Nestor talks to Marshall while they are on their way to meet the refugees. Nestor tells him that there is a possibility that Hannah could be one of them, and that he would be her tour guide. Also, Nestor instructs him to find out what he could about the camp and report back to him. Mayor Conway and Jude stand there, waiting. Just in time, the bus arrives, and After Agent Foster meets the Mayor and some refugees go out, Hannah comes down the bus. She and Marshall finally meet again. Roy sees this and looks at them with a hint of jealousy.
Marshall walks with Hannah around town, trailed by Roy. They find themselves near a statue. Marshall tells her a story about how the statue was involved in his first vandalism incident. Hannah laughs, but Roy finds Marshall’s story unappealing. They then walk at a shoreline. Marshall tells him how he finds their situation painful; then he convinces her to run away with him. They climb over boulders where Marshall kisses her. They continue to walk down, and when Roy tries to chase after him, he finds them in a boat on the way to the other side of the shore.
Marshall and Hannah talk about their past experiences. She tells him a story about her first heartbreak, Micah. They kiss, then Hannah decides to tell him the truth about her after Marshall insists on knowing more about her. Hannah tells him how she recognized him and how he was supposedly going to help her, and that she and her fellow refugees escaped a war-torn future. Marshall finds all this overwhelming, so he decides to go to the liquor store.
Nestor finds Marshall sitting on a table, drinking. When Nestor asks him about what he has found out, Marshall tells him that it was all just a mistake then he leaves. Hannah walks back to where the bus is parked. Along the way, an old man who is selling trinkets notices how sad she is, so he gives her a compliment that catches her attention. Hannah sets her eyes on what the old man is selling; then she finds her locket there. The old man tells her the price, but Hannah insists that it is her locket, so she does not need to pay for it. She leaves with the jewelry until one of the agents stop her. Eventually, Roy takes charge of the situation then he pulls Hannah away from the old man holding the locket.
A sad Hannah pleads with Roy, but Roy does not say a word. Inside the bus, she finds Rebecca looking out the window, with an even more sorrowful expression on her face. She asks her what is wrong, but Rebecca does not answer, so she proceeds to give her a comforting hug. Roy goes back to the old man who sells the locket. He buys it from him, but he discovers that Marshall’s face is inside the locket.
Five Moves Ahead
Craig Lindauer sits inside the interrogation room in handcuffs. Jude gives him a cup of chocolate, and they start to have a conversation. Nestor Rosario opens the door, telling Jude that the mayor is there. Jude steps outside the room, meeting Mayor Vanessa Conway (Natalie Brown). The Mayor demands Jude an explanation. So Jude explains the situation. She decides to have a word with Craig inside the interrogation room. However, Craig was able to talk his way out by arranging a visit of the refugees to the town.
Jude, Mayor Conway, and Marshall wait for the arrival of the refugees into town. Leah was one of the first of them to exit the bus, so Jude immediately talks to her. They are joined by Rebecca shortly, and Jude offers to be their tour guide for the day. They make their way through the town. Jude asks Rebecca about the camp. While Rebecca hesitates to talk to him about it, Jude is eventually able to convince her to talk to him once he tells her what he knows.
While they are at a souvenir shop, Rebecca reveals that she fears for Leah. She is surprised that Jude knows about Reese, and then she tells her how Leah would be in danger if the people in the camp knew about her. She asks about Reese, but Jude tells her that he does not know where she is. Leah looks around inside the shop. A man hands her a souvenir card with something written in an unknown script at the back of the card. Leah folds the card and keeps it. She leaves the souvenir shop.
They reach the playground. Jude and Rebecca encourage Leah to try using the swing. Jude assists Leah in getting on the swing, and he starts to push her until Leah is capable of keeping the swing moving on her own. At a distance, Reese watches them through binoculars. When they reach the landmark shown in the card, Leah asks to use the bathroom. Once she is inside, Reese opens the roof access and pulls Leah out through it.
Jude meets them at the back of Reese’s car. Jude helps Leah get rid of the tracking bracelet. When Jude removes the bracelet, Leah hugs him. After this, they proceed to part their ways, telling each other to be careful. Rebecca sees Leah in the car as it leaves, then she tells Jude that he has made a colossal mistake. Jude negates this, however, saying that Leah is in the safest place she could ever be in.
After their escape from the group of refugees, they prepare to leave the town at a motel. However, Reese senses something odd about Leah’s toy then she discovers that it is rigged with a tracking device. They quickly head to their car and drive away from the motel as fast as they could. Back in the police station, Nestor hands Jude a flyer about a meeting that pertains to the identity of the refugees. He realizes that Reese and Leah’s escape was too easy.
Mother And Daughter
Leah (Bailey Skodje) is finally discharged from the infirmary. Rebecca (Simone Kessell) leads her out of the cabin when a nurse hands her something she had forgotten to take with her: her rabbit stuffed toy. As they make their way through the camp, the survivors look at Leah questioningly. She asks Rebecca about this, but Rebecca tells her to ignore them.
Rebbeca and Caleb are inside their cabin. Caleb notices that something is bothering her, so he decides to talk to her. They have a conversation about their fears ever since they set foot in the camp until Leah arrives, telling them that she and Rebecca were included in a list. They make their way to a cabin where the rest of the refugees were gathered in, and they find out that Leah and Rebecca were indeed on the list of the chosen people who were to go to town. Caleb tries to talk Rebecca out of it, sensing that it is unsafe, but Rebecca insists on it, so they proceed to the bus.
Outside the camp, Reese (Natalie Martinez) starts targeting the guards inside the camp. She notices a guard pick up something she distinctly remembers: Leah’s toy. The guard hands the toy to Leah right before she and Rebecca enter the bus. Seeing this, Reese realizes that she needs to change her plan. Inside the bus, Agent Foster (Luc Roderique) gives instructions to the refugees and has them fitted with tracking bracelets.
While they go through the town, Leah eventually finds her way to her mother. Jude helps Leah get rid of the tracking bracelet. They proceed to leave, each telling one another to be cautious. Rebecca sees Leah in the car, and then he tells Jude that he has made a mistake in letting Leah go with Reese, but Jude tells her that Reese is capable of keeping Leah safe.
Rebecca looks out the bus window with a sad expression on her face. Hannah asks her what is wrong, but she is unable to answer, so Hannah hugs her. Reese and Leah stay in a motel. While Reese has Leah choose their next destination, she hears something inside Leah’s toy. She rips the toy’s head off, finding a tracking device. Upon discovering this, she has Leah enter their car, and they quickly drive away from the motel.
Reese drives as fast as she can, but then the tires of her car pop. A strike team proceeds to attack her. One of the men get hold of Leah, and the men eventually incapacitate Reese. Craig tells someone through the phone that their target has been acquired.
