The Deal

Reese (Natalie Martinez) contacts Jude. She indeed does have Oliver. Oliver is in a safe condition. Reese tells Jude that she would only release Oliver in one condition: Jude has to get Leah for her. Jude agrees, seeing how he does not seem to have a choice. However, he is tracking their location through Oliver’s phone GPS. Once he had arrived at the location, he found Oliver’s phone inside an abandoned car. He was too late. They are gone.

Reese takes Oliver to the lake to go fishing. Oliver notices that they do not have any fishing rods, so Reese the fishing rods of two fishermen nearby. Once Reese acquires the fishing rods, Oliver says that he wishes to contact Jude. Reese reasons out that Oliver’s phone is broken and that he must not be bothered since he is searching for someone really important. Oliver simply replies that Jude would be able to find who he is looking for.

Emma brings Dr. Forbin into the isolation chamber. Dr. Forbin tries explains Leah’s condition. Apparently, Leah’s condition is critical to the point that Dr. Forbin would be surprised if she were to survive the next 48 hours. Jude expresses his disbelief over the situation, saying that Reese would not believe what is happening. Dr. Forbin does not know who Reese is, so Emma asks Jude to talk to her outside. Outraged, Jude reveals everything he knows about what has happened: that the people in the camp are from the future,  Emma’s boss “sucks”, and that her job is to keep secrets. Emma suggests putting out an alert in order to search for Reese, but Jude disagrees, mentioning what had happened the last time anyone else got involved in the situation. Reese would call him in about an hour, so he reflects on what he could do.

When Emma left the isolation chamber, Jude talks to Dr. Forbin. She talks Jude into giving her information about Reese, but Jude tells her to help him get Leah out of the chamber. Dr. Forbin tells him that she cannot do this, but she could give Jude a report on Leah’s condition or a photo of Leah inside the isolation unit. Jude then tells her that she could tell Reese herself, hinting that he should join him when he goes to Reese’s location. Dr. Forbin refuses, but once Jude threatens to rip Leah’s isolation unit open, she agrees to go with him.

Emma discovers that they have left, so she contacts Jude. Over the phone, Emma tells Jude to return before anyone gets hurt. Jude tells her that if he does not go to the location that Reese had set, Oliver would get hurt. Jude hands the phone to Dr. Forbin, and she reasons out that since Leah had undergone treatment with the help of her mother, she would be able to synthesize a cure to prevent the outbreak of Leah’s virus. Emma reluctantly agrees, ordering Jude to update her every half hour.

While Oliver is fishing, he asks Reese if she has children. She replies that she has a daughter. Oliver asks why her daughter is not with them, and Reese says that they will meet her later. Then, Oliver asks for her daughter’s name. Reese says that her daughter’s name is Leah. Oliver mentions how “Leah” is a good name. reese says that Oliver reminds her of his father, Jude. Oliver lets Reese use the fishing rod. She declines at first, saying how she has not tried to go fishing. Oliver insists and is amazed at the distance that the fishing line reaches after Reese casts it out. In disbelief, Oliver asks her again if she has ever tried fishing and Reese reiterates that she has not tried it before.

Dr. Forbin asks Jude about Reese. She finds out that what the people from the camp say is true, that some people have enhancements: strengths, healing properties, and sensory capabilities. Dr. Forbin thinks of this as a glimpse into evolution, but Jude disagrees and states that Reese was made to fight and that she is dangerous.

Jude and Dr. Forbin arrive at Reese’s set location. Jude explains the situation to her. Reese comes out of her location and demands them to bring her to Leah. Jude tells her that it would be dangerous and that she would be immediately imprisoned once she enters the camp. Seeing how there was no way to get Reese to Leah, therefore, their deal would be useless, Dr. Forbin offers to take Oliver’s place as Reese’s captive. While in Reese’s custody, Dr. Forbin would help her synthesize an antidote that would save Leah’s life.

Jude arrives home and finds Oliver sitting on the sofa. With a breath of relief, he proceeds to hug him. After this, Jude asks him about Reese. Oliver assumes that Reese is Jude’s girlfriend and that Jude had Reese babysit him in order for him to get to know her. Jude is confused at first but he agrees with what Oliver says.

Jude enters Oliver’s room in order to talk about him and his day. While they discuss what happened, Oliver asks Jude if he could say something and not get in trouble for it. Jude lets him talk, and Oliver says that he could meet someone better than Reece. Jude laughs and agrees with him. He also jokingly asks Oliver if he knows anyone he could set him up with. Jude remarks that at that moment, he was having the best time of the day.

Hannah’s Situation

Luke (Leif Gantvoort) finds Caleb (Marcuis Harris) in a chapel. Luke makes a remark about the place, and how it was of no good to anyone. Luke notices that Caleb covers his Alpha Zulu print. He insists that Caleb should be proud of it. Caleb states that he does not wish to remember what he used to do. Luke wishes that he had Caleb’s memories. After this, he asks Caleb if he has seen Hannah. Caleb replies that he has not seen her. Luke kicks a Bible on the floor and leaves the chapel. Hannah is in her cabin, sharpening two butter knives.

Marshall (Tommy Bastow) is talking to his friend (Toby Hemingway). Marshall’s friend reminds him how the last relationship that he was in was a disaster. Marshall counters this and says that he was not in a relationship with Claire (Shannon Chan-Kent). Marshall changes the subject to Hannah and how he suspects that she is one of the survivors. They have a conversation about what they know about the survivors, and they came to a conclusion that the survivors were in a camp in the mountains. Marshall’s friend asks him about Hannah, and he replies that does not really know why he is searching for her.

Marshall heads to the Police Station and talks to Nestor Rosario (Rick Gomez). He tells Nestor that he knows where the survivors are, but Nestor does not believe him. He offers to bring Nestor there if he helps him get Hannah out, but Nestor tells him to leave and even threatens him. Hannah continues to sharpen the butter knives and is able to join them into one. She hides the knife in a piece of cloth.

Hannah is hiding in the back of her cabin. She sees Luke walk past it and enter his own. Hannah pulls out her knife. Before she could approach Luke, Caleb grabs her arm. She lets go of the knife. Caleb talks to Hannah in her Cabin. He finds out that Luke is threatening Hannah. Hannah also told him that she used to be an apex collaborator, but she only did what she had to do. Caleb asks if Luke knows about this and if he had hurt her and then he leaves her in her cabin.

Marshall contemplates on contacting Hannah. His friend tries to talk him out of it. He tries to have Marshall consider what was going on but Marshall insists that he cannot stop thinking about her. He then tells him that there is no way to enter the camp. Marshall sees a drone and realizes that they do not need to enter the camp; they only needed a drone to give Hannah a means of contacting him. They fly the drone into the camp’s location but before they could find Hannah, and eagle snatches the drone, dropping the phone attached to it.

Luke enters his cabin. Caleb is in there, waiting for him. He confronts him about how he is threatening Hannah and tells him to stay away from her. Luke tries to convince him into not believing what Hannah has said. Caleb tells him that as long as he is there, no one gets to hurt Hannah. Luke is outraged by this, saying that it is unfair that Hannah gets to walk around the camp even if she affiliated with the people responsible for the deaths of his family members. Luke question’s Caleb’s authority over everyone in the camp, and then Caleb takes him in a headlock and threatens to kill him. Luke taps out, and Caleb sets him free.

Marshall and Claire are on a date. Claire tells him a story about how she has found an apartment outside the town. She asks him to come with her. Luke is unable to say anything until Hannah calls his phone. He leaves the table and answers it. It turns out that Caleb had found the phone, and is asking who he is.

An Earlier Migration

Paul sits at one of the camp tables and notices a female refugee for her talent in drawing. He asks her if she is as good with drawing faces as she is in sketching landscapes. She replies that she could try. Paul hands her an outline of the face’s points, and she asks him who the person is. Paul simply says that it’s someone he’d like to see again.

Paul approaches one of the guards and shows him the sketch. He asks the guard to run it through facial recognition. The guard hesitates at first, but Paul bribes him by saying that the person in the sketch would pay him with a hefty amount.

The guard goes to Emma and tells her about Paul and his offer. Emma sees this as an opportunity to gain information, so she takes the drawing and confronts Paul. Eventually, Paul tells her that the person in the picture is his wife. He confirms that there was an earlier migration and that he only wants to know what happened to her.

Emma runs the drawing through facial recognition. She remembers what Craig Lindauer (Jay Karnes) had done the first time he had information reach him, so she unplugs the scanner. She contacts someone through the phone and asks if they could perform a facial recognition scan for her. She does not disclose other details, and she ends the call abruptly once her contact agrees with her.

Emma drives to the location of Paul’s wife. Jude calls her while she is still driving. Jude tells her that he has Oliver back, but in turn, Reese has Dr. Forbin. Emma tells Jude that they should not be talking about this over the phone asks if Dr. Forbin is safe, and tells Jude that she will meet him at the Police Station on the next morning. Emma arrives at the house and she rings the bell. Paul’s wife opens the door and confirms that Paul is indeed her husband. They continue to talk inside the house.

Paul’s wife tells Emma that she and Paul were married for nine years without any problems. One afternoon, Paul comes home and says that he is not happy anymore. After this, he left her. She then tells Emma that Paul has joined a cult. She states that Paul had tried to bring her into this “cult”, but she refused to do so. Emma expresses disbelief, and she tries to talk about Paul and the people he is with. Paul’s wife interrupts her, saying that the people claim to be from the future. She then talks about Paul’s life before he joined this cult. She then expresses her disbelief over how Paul had ended up. Emma asks her for further proof about Paul’s cult, and she mentions how she still has papers and proceeds to get them.

While Paul’s wife looks for the papers, Emma looks around the house. She then discovers a strange photo. When she looks at the picture, Emma sees that Craig is in it. Before she could do anything about this, Paul’s wife shoots her with a pistol, and Emma falls to the ground.
