It could be a while before we get to see Keanu Reeves return as John Wick, but Lionsgate has said that they would love to expand on the world of assassins that Mr. Wick operates in. One spinoff is The Continental, and it brings us the story of the shady organization that Wick used to work for.
Check this out:
The official synopsis reads:
The three-part event series will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.
If you haven’t been paying attention to the story of John Wick, Winston Scott is the character played by Ian McShane, who is running the Continental when we first meet him. Though he doesn’t do much action in the Wick films, I can imagine him being a pretty capable killer in his youth.
Then again, since this is John Wick we’re talking about, I should expect that the series would just have some bombastic action scenes pulled off by cool-looking characters. I don’t really expect the film to have some Westworld-level writing, because that really isn’t what the franchise is about.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long till we get a full trailer.
The Continental is set to premiere on Peacock this coming September.
