After the standoff between The Conners and the vending machine company, they celebrate the life of an incoming family member. However, the baby shower went on without the father. As this tricky relationship issue happens, one introduces her partner to the family formally. Indeed, the family is getting bigger by the minute.
In this week’s episode of The Conners, Dan Conner (John Goodman) and Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf) gives Emilio (Rene Rosado), the father of Becky Conner’s (Lecy Goranson) baby, a chance to be involved in the baby’s life. Meanwhile, Darlene Conner (Sara Gilbert) introduces her boss and boyfriend, Ben (Jay R. Ferguson) to the family.
The Baby’s Father
At the event of Becky’s baby shower, her close friends are family attend. However, Blue (Juliette Lewis) manages to squeeze her way into the planning, so the event went her way; at least before she cried about David (Johnny Galecki) not willing to have other kids with her. While Darlene and Blue talk things through, Jackie welcomes Emilio to the party. Emilio gives Becky a gift for the baby, but he leaves almost immediately since Becky sends him away. Unfortunately, she did not want Emilio to be involved with the baby. Seeing the situation, Dan decides to take matters into his hands.
Just as the restaurant closes, Dan decides to offer Emilio a spot in his drywall job. Dan felt that Emilio deserves a chance since he seemed like a decent man. Besides, Emilio sincerely wants to help raise the baby. Despite it being a risk, Dan hires Emilio. As soon as Jackie hears about this, she thanks Dan wholeheartedly. Becky may have been skeptical about Emilio at first, but after Dan and Jackie’s convincing, she agrees to involve Emilio.
Lab Rat
Realizing how serious their relationship is, Darlene decides to introduce Ben to the family at dinner. The family warmly accepts Ben, and Ben even offers to teach Mark Conner-Healy (AmesMcNamara) piano lessons, since Mark wanted to join the school orchestra. Darlene sees this as an opportunity to test Ben’s parenting skills, so she looked forward to it.
At first, Ben and Mark’s piano lesson session seemed off to a bad start. With that, Darlene decides to cancel it, since Mark left upset. However, Mark insists on having the lessons, since he knew that he did not take Ben’s instructions seriously. The next day, Darlene and Ben talk about what happened. Because of the positive turn of events, Ben gives Darlene even better news. An investor in Chicago wanted him and his publication to move there, and he wanted Darlene and the kids to move in with him. Darlene’s life continues to go on the right track ever since she left her casino job.
