The Addams Family is Back in New Teaser for Tim Burton’s Wednesday

Tim Burton may not have directed the Addams Family movies, but the IP does feel pretty much like his brand, and he’s teamed up with Netflix for a spinoff focused on the Addams’ favorite daughter.

Just in, we have a new trailer for Wednesday, and it gives us a look at the unique world of Nevermore Academy. Watch this:

The official description reads:

Watch the official teaser for WEDNESDAY, an upcoming Netflix series from the imagination of Tim Burton. WEDNESDAY — starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap.

Though the Addams characters usually stand out when they are interacting with ‘normal’ people, the show actually brings Wednesday to an academy that looks like it’s also full of mysterious and kooky characters. I guess this opens up the show to really go wild with the signature dark humor of the Addams Family.

Admittedly, the series feels a lot like Netflix’s cancelled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, what with the focus on the young girl with special powers. I guess Wednesday can define itself with its more family-friendly spooks and lack of Satan-worshipping.

Then again, we’ve only seen a teaser. I’m sure there are elements of the show that would still have parents clutching at their pearls.

Wednesday is set to hit Netflix sometime this fall—I’m guessing around Halloween.
