Taika Waititi Not Returning for Thor 5?

While a majority of audiences had loved Taika Waititi’s humorous tone and antics in Thor: Ragnarok, the same can’t be said about Thor: Love and Thunder—which has been bashed for its unfunny jokes mediocre improv. Now a rumor is going around that Waititi could be done with the franchise, and he won’t be there to complete Thor’s next arc.
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Waititi is now out of the next Thor movie, and it could have something to do with the mixed reception of Love and Thunder.
For now, nothing official has been announced, but with Waititi so busy with Star Wars and Our Flag Means Death (among other things), I can imagine he would want a break from the huge Marvel machine, especially with the fanbase having huge potential to be a pain in his ass if he pumps out a movie they don’t like.
With review bombing and internet troll culture being a thing nowadays, you would think that Marvel would know better than to just listen to negative reviews. After all, the movie has done incredibly well in the box office, and negative feedback usually comes from a small minority of fans who have nothing to do but whine on the internet.
Personally I’m up for a new voice in the Thor franchise. I was honestly all-in for the Shakespearean dialogue and Asgardian lore-building. You think that Peter Jackson would be willing to have a swing at the magic hammer?
Thor: Love and Thunder comes to Disney+ on Sep. 8.
