Supernatural Season 13 Teases New Unexpected Villain

Throughout the many seasons of “Supernatural,” Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) have encountered numerous types of villains and contenders. The show even went as far as killing off the two on several occasions, and the multiple times where the Winchester brothers literally saved the world from impending doom.
After the extreme season finale for “Supernatural” last May, most fans would assume that Lucifer’s newborn son Jack would be the next major villain for the upcoming season 13. However, showrunner Andrew Dabb recently shared that someone else will be the cause of even greater danger for our favorite supernatural hunters—for now, at least.
Supernatural’s New Big Bad Isn’t Who You’d Expect
In an interview with TVLine at the San Diego Comic-Con, Dabb shared a few details on what fans should expect for “Supernatural” Season 13’s new villain. “[Lucifer’s child] Jack is not the biggest threat they are dealing with. It’s an old — let’s call him friend — who we have not seen for many years,” Dabb said.
Well, that sounds vague. But Dabb did say that the big bad “probably is not currently in our world” and that “he [is] from the alternate world.” Based on what the showrunner said, we can conclude that the villain is indeed male. Some characters who were killed in the version of Earth that we’ve come to know and love include Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) and Castiel (Misha Collins), who both died in the season 12 finale by angel sword, something that causes permanent, irreversible death. That being said, it’s also likely that an alternate version of Castiel will be brought in.
It’s no doubt that those two will return sometime soon, but it doesn’t exactly mean that they’ll be the new threat for the coming season. As for guesses on who the Archangel Michael is, Dabb simply said, “I’ll plead the fifth on that one.”
“Supernatural” Season 13 premieres Thursday, October 12th on The CW.
