Ever since the third season of Stranger Things fans had been speculating that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was gay, and it was pretty much confirmed in the latest season with Will struggling to express his feelings to Mike (Finn Wolfhard). Though it may be taking a while for Will to come out, actor Noah Schnapp has decided to go ahead online.
In a recent TikTok post, Schnapp revealed that he had came out of the closet with his friends and family, to which they replied, ‘We know.’ Here’s the post:
@noahschnapp I guess I’m more similar to will than I thought
Schnapp also added in the caption: “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”
So far, Schnapp has been receiving a lot of support online, with some fans claiming that they weren’t surprised at all that he was gay. Some are even joking that the reason Schnapp plays Will so well was because he himself was also a closeted gay kid.

For now, the show is expecting to put Will back to the spotlight. After the earlier seasons had us watching Will suffer in the hands of the Upside Down, he was kind of put in the sideline to just deal with the way he fit in with the group. Now with him being sure of his feelings, I’m sure he’s being set up to have one of the most complicated arcs on television by the time the show comes back.
The next season of Stranger Things comes out in 2024, but you can catch Will Byers going through the motions in the first four seasons now streaming on Netflix.
