'Stranger Things' Season 3: Five Questions We Need Answered

We’re only a few weeks away from the third season of Stranger Things. And with the two new teasers, it’s hard not to wish time would pass a little bit faster. The two new teasers gave us quite the happy times in the new Stranger Things season. From Mrs. Wheeler’s attempts at flirting with Billie in “The Summer in Hawkins” by the poolside to Steve and Dustin’s cinema adventure in “Coca Cola First Love,” all seems well in Hawkins. But the official trailer for the whole season says otherwise. And it seems that whatever the new threat in Hawkins is, we won’t get any more information about it in these new teasers. As the new season of Stranger Things draws nearer, the intrigue just keeps escalating.

Here are a few questions that these teasers and trailer has hooked us with:

1. What is the New Monster?

The new threat to Hawkins was only seen in the last part of the official teaser as a frightening mass of skin, muscle, teeth, and insect-like legs. As of now, we have no idea what it can do. And though it looks more disgusting that the mind flayer, we have no idea what it can control and how much of a threat is it. There’s also the question of how it relates to the gruesome infection on Billie’s arm. But based on the few short clips we’ve seen, it looks quite the match to the heroes of the show.

2. Who’s the Hitman After?

In the official trailer of Stranger Things, we were introduced to a couple of new characters. And one that stands out is the man brandishing a gun as he was stalking the house of mirrors in the Hawkins carnival. Some theories suggest that he’s from the same organization that set up the experiments on Eleven. And that he was sent to end their experiment that went rogue. Others say that he might be hunting for the new monster in town as well.

3. What Happens to the Friend Group?

The new teasers give us a glimpse to the blooming relationships of Lucas, Max, Mike, and Eleven. Sadly, the trailer paints a sadder picture for the whole friend group. Will was crying over old pictures of him and his pals. And Dustin was left on the hilltop alone. Their bond seems to have faded while they grew and developed new relationships. But, we need to know what set it all off in the first place.

4. What Happens to Billie?

With the new teaser, it seems that Billie has become everyone’s new favorite lifeguard. And in that scene, he still seemed fine and healthy. But, there’s that shower scene in the trailer that showed an infection on Billie’s arm that looks like something that came from the Upside Down. Maybe like Will, he’ll carry part of the monster in him. Some fans are even theorizing that he might become the monster himself.

5. What’s Mayor Kline’s Play?

Aside from the hitman, another new character that caught attention was Mayor Kline, the new mayor of Hawkins. It seems that in his term, a new Hawkins has come to light and not everybody is fine with it. With his prominent appearance, there’s a chance he might have something to do with the new threat to Hawkins. It might particularly be related to the new lab disaster that we saw in the trailer. Unfortunately, we still won’t get to know what he’s playing for or what happens under his watch until the new season comes out. Until then, we’ll have to hold on to all the mind-boggling questions we have.

Stranger Things Season 3 premieres July 4th on Netflix.
