We’re only 5 months away from “Stranger Things” season 2, and now the latest news on the hit Netflix show focuses on it’s new monsters. The second season will be taking a “restrained approach” in depicting monsters. Filming has officially wrapped, and it’s no doubt that fans of “Stranger Things” are looking forward to every bit of information that the next chapter will have to offer.
Following the questions raised at the end of season 1, the succeeding stories will indeed provide answes with even more terrifying dangers bigger than the Demogorgon. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will (Noah Schnapp) are in for more strange adventures.
The show draws themes from Stephen King (and a little bit of Twin Peaks), the return of “Stranger Things” is sure to give us their trademark horror production like no other.
More Stranger Things, Less Prominent Monsters
Season 1 focused primarily on the Demogorgon, but the latest update about season 2 says that “Stranger Things” will be taking a different path for its monsters. In an interview with Variety, the Duffer brothers spoke about the things they had to do to downplay the monster elements of the show.
“The point is not to give everyone what they think they want. Because I don’t think they really know what they want. Hiding the monsters can be more effective than seeing them, so restraint can be a good thing. I can’t talk too much about them, but they’re cool,” Ross Duffer said.

“Strangers Things” season 2 holding back its monsters is indeed an interesting venture. It’s unclear how the monster will be revealed, as it aims to creatively unveil the creature without being too obvious.
Will Barb Return?
One important question has been around since the untimely demise of one of the characters in Stranger Things. Barb has amassed a cult following, with people asking her to be brought back from the Upside Down (remember the hashtag #JusticeForBarb?). Unfortunately, the second season won’t be having her around.
“There’s no resurrecting Barb. It was really surprising how much she took off. I related to her, so I think other people did as well,” Matt Duffer explains.
Since Barb won’t be returning, at least we now know that the Duffer brothers have a firm grasp on how to go about the monsters of the next season. Here’s to hoping for the absolute best as we all prepare for the show’s imminent return.
“Stranger Things” season 2 premieres October 31, 2017 on Netflix. Watch the teaser below:
