‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Leaves Twitter After She Becomes Subject of Homophobic Memes

Breakout star Millie Bobby Brown, mostly known for her character “Eleven” in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things left Twitter. The actress was the subject of homophobic gay tweets, causing her to leave millions of her followers. The inappropriate tweets that picked up steam on the social media platform started around November of last year and resurfaced once more this month—concurrently when Pride Month is celebrated.
The hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown not only shows Brown as homophobic but also includes fake stories, racism, and body shaming quotes.

Brown, who is an avid supporter of LGBT rights and an anti-bullying advocate, was quickly defended by her fans on social media.

Brown will make her feature film debut in the upcoming 2019 film Godzilla: King of Monsters, and will once again reprise her role as Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things. She was also the youngest person to be featured in TIME’s 100 most influential people.
