Stories from the Legendarium: Watch New Featurette for LOTR – The Rings of Power

September inches closer and closer, and fans can’t wait to check out Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings series. The show looks absolutely huge, and we have a new featurette giving us a teaser for what’s to come.

One character that’s been featured prominently in the previews is Galadriel, and the featurette confirms that she’s on a quest to find an ‘elusive, undiscovered, very real evil’ which we can all assume is Sauron.

What I didn’t expect was that the show might be forging a fellowship of its own. Showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne explain, “From the beginning, we knew [Galadriel] couldn’t do this alone. Every good quest needs a fellowship.” We don’t know who could be banding with Galadriel on the journey to find this hidden evil, but I’m guessing it could pretty much play out like the first movie, with an alliance between the races.

Though we’ve seen the men, elves, dwarves, and harfoots (harfeet? They’re proto-hobbits) in the series, we’ve yet to meet a wizard. While Gandalf is pretty much welcome to appear in the show, I think the series could be making use of the mysterious Blue Wizards whom Tolkien was not able to give a backstory (other than they disappeared).

LOTR is such a massive franchise, and with them running out of fire in the box office, I guess TV is the next logical step.
