It’s been almost a decade since The Office ended, and the cast has gone on to do a lot of other great things. What’s news is, Steve Carell (Michael Scott) is going to be teaming up with John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) for an upcoming project.
According to Deadline, Carell has signed on to the movie IF, a fantasy adventure film that will be directed by Krasinski. The story is said to be “based on Krasinski’s original idea about a child’s journey to rediscover their imagination.”
Besides Carell, the movie also has Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) set to star; other cast members include Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter), Alan Kim (Minari), Cailey Fleming (Loki), and Louis Gossett Jr. (Watchmen). Even Krasinski is said to be playing a part himself.
Krasinski is proving himself to be very capable in front and behind the camera. Besides directing episodes of The Office himself, Krasinski has proven that he can also helm a feature film; what with the critical response behind the Quiet Place movies. Maybe this time we’ll get something a lot lighter than the heavy thrills and chills of Krasinski’s previous works.
It’s going to be great to see Krasinski and Carell share a scene (if at all), but the movie also has a great cast behind it. We don’t know what to expect for now, but Reynolds has also proven that he can be kid-friendly just as he can be adult-oriented with his work on Free Guy. I can’t wait to get the first look at this film.
IF is set to come out on Nov. 17, 2023.
