Stefano Gabbana, co-founder of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion brand, is back in the hot seat after the designer called Selena Gomez “ugly” on a post in The Catwalk Italia’s Instagram.
After The Catwalk Italia asked its followers to pick their favorite dress worn by the singer, Gabbana left a nasty comment that caused massive outrage from Gomez’s fans.
Gabbana said “È Proprio brutta,” which translates to “she’s so ugly.” Gabbana made Gomez’s fans even madder when he seconded a comment that said Gomez also looked like a Pomeranian.
Gomez’ supporters, friends, and family defended the “Back to You” singer. Gabbana deleted his comments soon after, but that didn’t stop Gomez’s fans from their outcry against the renowned fashion designer. Fans called him rude and even went on to petition the boycott of Dolce & Gabbana.
Even 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman shut down Gabbana’s comment by saying, “you’re tired and over. your [SIC] homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. It is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.”
A lot of Gomez’s fans assumed that Gabbana was a bit offended about the singer not wearing any of his designs.
This isn’t the first time Gabbana delivered a harsh critique of celebrities, as he previously had some beef with supermodel Kate Moss and actress Victoria Beckham. Gomez represents the Coach brand, which somehow makes sense since Gabbana did the same thing to Moss when she wore the Saint Laurent brand.
