Star Wars: The Acolyte is ‘Kill Bill Meets Frozen’

There are a lot of Star Wars spinoff series in the works, and while we expect Ahsoka to be in the same vein as The Mandalorian, Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte promises to be an original premise set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace.
Talking to Empire (via Den of Geek), Headland describes her elevator pitch of The Acolyte to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. She explains that the series is “Kill Bill meets Frozen… It is sort of a joke… But it was my elevator pitch to Kathy [Kennedy]: ‘I want to take that revisionist version of female villains that you see in a fairy-tale media and tell it through that lens.”
Just in case you’re confused about how she would be bringing those two influences into one Star Wars series, The Acolyte is described:
… Set 100 years before The Phantom Menace and follows a former Jedi padawan and her master as they investigate a series of crimes that will eventually tie into how the Sith infiltrated the Republic in the Prequel Trilogy.
The series stars Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship), and Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game). We don’t know who is playing who specifically yet, but we should expect to see the side of both the Jedi and the Sith during this time of the High Republic.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait until next year before Lucasfilm drops the first teaser.
The Acolyte is expected to come to Disney+ sometime in early 2024.
