Star Wars: Sebastian Stan is Still Open to Playing Luke Skywalker

The Mandalorian may be content with a CG Luke Skywalker, but some fans think that Lucasfilm should just go and recast the character if they want him to appear in any more scenes. One particular fan-favorite pick for new Luke is Sebastian Stan (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), and he says that he’s still pretty much open for the role.

Talking to Esquire, Stan commented on his Luke Skywalker fancast, “Look it’s really kind, and never say never. Mark Hamill is my father, and he knows that, and I call him every Christmas to tell him, ‘just want you to know I’m around.’”

Judging by the way Stan says it, he could be joking, but even Hamill has commented that Stan does bear a resemblance to his younger self before, so I guess the only thing really standing in Stan’s way is the studio execs at Lucasfilm.

I will admit, they did greatly improve the CGI Luke in The Book of Boba Fett, but his mouth still moves weird, and he can barely emote. Even the line delivery feels very wooden and off. CG Luke is great as long as they want him to sit still and not show his mouth when he talks.

Despite the big character appearances in the latest episode, the show has gotten some flak for forgetting about their title character Boba Fett. With the finale incoming, let’s hope Boba gets the much-deserved spotlight back after 2 weeks of absence.

Catch The Book of Boba Fett Wednesdays on Disney+. Stan stars in Pam & Tommy now on Hulu.
