'Star Wars Rebels Season 4, Episode 11 'Dume' Recap: The Ghost Crew Copes with Kanan's Death [SPOILERS]

On the last episode of “Star Wars Rebels,” Kenan sacrifices himself to save the others, but his death also brought back the Loth wolves. The Jedi Master told Ezra (Taylor Gray) the Force is strong on Lothal but it looks like the Empire is hindering its power. It looks like Ezra will continue what the wolves wanted Kanan to start. Meanwhile, the Empire decides to have a parade which irks most of the rebels. In “Star Wars Rebels” Season 4, episode 11, titled “Dume,” the last thing the rebels would want to do was sulk. In spite of the tragedy, the Ghost Crew rallies together to find new purpose and resolve.

Parades need fireworks

While the Ghost Crew mourns their loss, the Empire decides to throw a parade celebrating their fruitful labor. Angry at the way the Empire decides to show their accomplishments, Sabine (Tiya Sircar) and Zeb (Steve Blum) wants to crash it—because no parade is complete without fireworks. Sabine notices that the Empire had shut down their factories. It was questionable because the Empire would never pause work for a parade. Suspicious, the two rebels decide to find information.

Back in the Imperial headquarters, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) confronts Gov. Pryce (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) about the explosion and the parade. Gov. Pryce tries to revert the conversation about of defeating the rebels. She presents him Kanan’s lightsaber proving the Jedi’s death but Thrawn wasn’t having any of it. He was more concerned about Gov. Pryce destroying their fuel hiding their mistakes and accomplishing what the rebels wanted. When he returns, he told Gov. Pryce that they will appropriately deal with her actions.
Sabine and Zeb were able to find out after knocking out a Scout Trooper. They realized Kanan didn’t only save them but also accomplished their mission. Watching from a  distance, they notice Rhuk investigating the explosion site but caught the rebels quickly. Sabine and Zeb were able to gain the upper hand against Rhuk. Sure, Zeb got carried away and almost killed the hired assassin but Sabine stepped in. Even though they wanted to avenge their friend, they shouldn’t kill anyone in the process. Instead, Sabine turned Rhuk into a work of art.

Kanan’s death was devastating to both Hera (Vanessa Marshall) and Ezra, while other members of the Ghost Crew gained new information the two closest to Kanan continue to grieve. It isn’t especially easy for Ezra when the Loth Wolves decide to approach him. The young Jedi perceived their visit as hostile when it seemed they were angry at Ezra for Kanan’s death. The wolves chased Ezra out of Rebel camp and in the deserted fields of Lothal. But the wolves only wanted to talk.
Perceiving the Loth wolves as some sort of dream, Ezra wakes up lost and unable to find his way back. He decides to sleep it off but wakes up to an alternate reality. He was surrounded by Loth wolves. One of the wolves growls “Dume,” Kanan’s real name. Recognizing his former Jedi Master’s name, Ezra admits to the wolf his fear and hopelessness. The wolf told him to fight it since there is a much greater battle ahead. They present to him a tablet from the Jedi temple. The wolf tells him the same thing Ahsoka Tano told Ezra about the Sith Temple back in Malachor knowledge and destruction. Ezra and his crew need to save the Jedi Temple from the Empire.
