Star Wars Rebels fans are excited for the live-action debut of characters Sabine and Ezra in the Ahsoka series, but The Mandalorian featured a member of the Ghost crew in live-action before Ahsoka could.
As confirmed by the credits, the Lasat pilot that talks to Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) is Zeb, and his voice is reprised by Steve Blum.

Before anyone can say that there could be a different Lasat named Zeb, his story in Rebels confirms that his species of people have been decimated by the Empire, so there are very few of Zeb’s kind walking around the galaxy. Either way, it’s a pretty neat cameo, and a lot of people agree that this version looks pretty good for the series—like Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War good.
Behind-the-scenes, the design of Zeb is actually inspired by Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept art for Chewbacca. Admittedly, a noseless, bug-eyed creature isn’t as kid-friendly as a giant walking carpet, but Zeb ended up being a fan-favorite for anyone who enjoys Rebels. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him in live-action.
For now, The Mandalorian is going a different direction when it comes to storytelling, and we’re getting seeds planted for a resurgence of the Empire; starting with the missing status of Moff Gideon. We don’t know what Gideon has planned, but some believe that we are going to get the origin story of the First Order, which ties the show directly to The Force Awakens.
Then again, that’s just speculation.
