It’s possible we won’t be seeing Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars again anytime soon, but actor Ahmed Best surprised fans when he appeared as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in the last season of The Mandalorian. With Beq’s fate up in the air, show producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were asked if Best could be coming back to the future, and he says it’s completely possible.
Talking to EW (via JediNews), Filoni shared, “It’s always a possibility… We love Ahmed, and he did such a great job. It was a real thrill for us to get him involved.
For context, Best’s character was the host of SW reality show Jedi Temple Challenge, but The Mandalorian had officially made the character canon. Favreau explains, “He’s been involved with Star Wars all the way through and definitely had formulated this character. And we love to draw from all of Star Wars, and even things that aren’t canon. If they feel right, we’ll pull ’em in. And now that character exists squarely in Star Wars canon.”
When we were introduced to Beq, it was revealed that he was the Jedi that managed to save Grogu from the Jedi Temple Purge, but we don’t know exactly what his fate is in the canon since he’s nowhere to be seen when Grogu is saved in the first season of Mando.
I’m hoping they manage to keep Beq as a relevant character moving forward, but to keep to the theme of the Jedi having died out, I think it would be necessary to kill off his character in one way or another. Then again, that’s just my opinion.
I would honestly love if we got an update on Jar Jar’s fate, because he’s one of my favorite characters growing up.
