Obi-Wan Kenobi may have just premiered this weekend, and though fans were expecting a trailer for what’s to come for the rest of the season, we instead got a look at another upcoming Star Wars series, Andor.
Watch this:
Here’s the official description:
The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
Though the Kenobi series is clearly more focused on the world of the Jedi and Sith, it looks like Andor will be just like Rogue One—focusing on the non-Force users, and grunts of the Rebellion. Though Obi-Wan is set to go on a journey to find himself once again, he never really became a huge part of the Rebel Alliance, and I think that’s where the Andor series comes in.
I honestly would have preferred a Solo series, but I’m willing to see what stories Star Wars wants to bring to the table, just as long as it doesn’t depend too much on legacy characters. Since Cassian is a relatively new face to Star Wars, I’m excited for the story potential of the show, especially when it includes cast members like Stellan Skarsgard and Fiona Shaw.
Catch Andor when it comes to Disney+ on Aug. 31.
