After The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney+ is moving on to some non-legacy characters with Andor starring Diego Luna. The series is set to premiere late September, and we have a new clip that has Cassian meeting with a new character played by Stellan Skarsgard.
Watch this:
We don’t know who Skarsgard’s character is supposed to be, but it looks like he’s well connected with both the military and political side of the Rebel Alliance. In the clip, it seems that we get to watch him meet Cassian for the first time, and we get to watch Cassian explain how it comes to easy to him to sneak into Imperial territory and steal goods.
With TBOBF and Obi-Wan Kenobi focusing so much on nostalgia for its appeal, a lot of people are hoping that Andor will go in a different direction. Though the general consensus for Star Wars is that it’s core audience is children, it would be great to get a show that really delved into the political intrigue between the Rebellion and the Empire. Who says Star Wars isn’t political?
Cassian Andor may have been a one-off character in Rogue One, but he does seem to be the perfect character to have this series centred on. Besides his espionage work, we should be able to see his origins and how exactly the Empire personally affected Cassian’s life. We should also get to witness the early days of the Rebellion and Mon Mothma’s transition into a rebel leader.
Andor is set to premiere on Disney+ on Sept. 21.
