Before Captain James T. Kirk, the USS Enterprise was helmed by Christopher Pike. Anson Mount had played Pike in Discovery, and now he’s set to helm his own series with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Just in, we have a premiere date set for May.
Mount revealed that the series will be premiering on Paramount+ on May 5, 2022. Here’s the post:
And we couldn’t be more excited. Thank you to the fans for making this happen and for your continued patience. XOXOX pic.twitter.com/a8EK4Wnzq9

Besides Mount, the show will also include Ethan Peck (Spock), Rebecca Romijin (Number One), and Celia Rose Gooding (Cadet Uhura).
As for the story, it’s said that Strange New World is placed a decade before the events of the Original Series, and will follow Captain Pike and his crew as they boldy go where no one has gone before. We don’t know how long the series plans to go on, but I can already imagine that we’re going to be introduced to a new Jim Kirk down the line.
It’s also worth noting that Strange New Worlds has also been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, so whatever the series has going, the higher-ups at paramount must think it’s really good.
While the Trek films have been taking a while to get back to the big screen, the franchise has just been booming on television with shows like Discovery and Picard. We even have some kid-friendly Trek with Star Trek: Prodigy, and the adult-oriented ST: Lower Decks has been renewed for a fourth season.
Catch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds when it premieres on Paramount+ on May 5.
