Spirited: Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell Get Scrooged in Upcoming Christmas Musical

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has been reinterpreted time and time again, but Apple TV+ is going a different direction with the upcoming film Spirited starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.

Watch the new trailer here:

Though a lot of audience members are familiar with the Christmas story of Scrooge and his night with the three ghosts, this one looks to be putting a twist to the tale, with the ghosts picking and choosing awful people to try and give them some kind of Christmas epiphany.

The Ghost of Christmas Present is really only one part of the story, but seeing that Ferrell and Reynolds have been front and center when it comes to the marketing, it’s very possible that Spirited is planning to put some kind of special twist to the flow of the story. I mean, we’re still getting the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, but there has to be a reason why Ferrell’s character kind of hangs around longer than everyone else.

Either way, Ferrell and Reynolds are comedy powerhouses, and though we’ve seen Ferrell in musicals before, it’s curious to see what kind of performance Reynolds can come up with. I mean, sure he can do action scenes and jump away from explosions, but can he sing at the top of his lungs while performing some complicated dance choreography? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Spirited comes to theaters on Nov. 11 and starts streaming on Apple TV+ on Nov. 18.
