We may not be getting a Solo follow-up anytime soon, but Disney has already found another job for Aldren Ehrenreich.
According to Deadline, Ehrenreich has been cast in Disney+’s Ironheart in what is said to be a ‘key role’. We don’t have any specifics as to who he could be playing, but if rumors are to be believed, it’s possible he could be cast as the son of Obadiah Stane—Jeff Bridges’ character from the first Iron Man.
Though a lot of people like to trash on Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ehrenreich’s Han Solo was easily one of the strongest performances in that film. He even does a great job in the now-cancelled Brave New World from Peacock. I guess what we haven’t seen from Ehrenreich yet is him playing a villain, but I think he could pretty much stand toe-to-toe with Dominique Thorne who is going to be playing the part of Riri Williams a.k.a. Ironheart.
No doubt Ehrenreich is a solid talent, and the Cohen Brothers clearly saw it when they cast him in Hail, Caesar!. Though it is a bummer that the franchises that he’s been cast in haven’t been able to take off, it’s only a matter of time before audiences get to appreciate him for the talent that he is.
NO release date has been set for Ironheart yet, but Riri is expected to make her big-screen debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which hits theaters on Nov. 11.
