M3GAN may have come out during a ‘dump month,’ but the film managed to be a huge success with a sequel already planned for 2025. Though we don’t have an official look at M3GAN 2.0 yet, Saturday Night Live has released a new skit poking fun at the movie’s surprise audience—gay men.

Though fans imagined that M3GAN was pretty much geared toward horror movie fans, it was kind of surprising that the new generation of killer doll would find so much support from the gay community. I guess the trailer really does mean it when they said that ‘If there’s one thing gay men love, it’s unhinged plastic women.’
Not even Billy Eichner’s Bros was able to get as much support from the gay community the way M3GAN did.
Despite the movie releasing in January, it seems that the producers were pretty confident with the numbers M3GAN was going to do. Producer Jason Blum told Variety, “After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work… So, we broke our cardinal rule and we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released. I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do.”
No plot for the sequel has been released yet, but we’re pretty much looking at this generation’s version of the Child’s Play series.
Catch M3GAN now currently in theaters. M3GAN 2.0 is set to release on Jan. 17, 2025.
