The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards is about to get an electric shock straight from the Greek gods themselves as Shazam! star Zachary Levi hosts the upcoming awards show on June 17, according to Variety.
The event will be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA and will also feature a slew of musical performances. That being said, Levi is no stranger to performing as a singer on stage. He was previously nominated for a Tony for Best Leading Man in the Broadway version of She Loves Me. Levi also voiced Flynn Rider in 2010’s Tangled, where its soundtrack, titled “I See The Light,” also got an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. And not only that, but Levi was also featured in Katharine McPhee’s 2010 pop hit, “Terrified.” So we all know the guy can sing really well.
Of course, Levi comes fresh off of portraying Shazam, which was met with widespread fan and critical acclaim. The recent DC Extended Universe outing raked in $324 million (and counting), making it a smash hit among superhero fans and casual moviegoers. However, this is not Levi’s first foray into the superhero movie genre. He previously played Asgardian warrior Fandral in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor: The Dark World.
Among Levi’s other film and TV credits include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the hit show, Chuck.
