Seth Rogen And Billy Eichner Sings ‘Hakuna Matata’ in ‘The Lion King’ Featurette

Disney teases Lion King fans with a featurette featuring Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner’s short clip singing the iconic ‘Hakuna Matata’ song and a few scenes from the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King this July 19.

The sneak peek offers the behind the scenes process of the remake of the classic Disney animated film Lion King while highlighting a few clips of Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones and many more.

Favreau’s Take on Lion King

Director Jon Favreau describes The Lion King as “a story people knew intimately.” He then assures that all his learning and experiences that he got from the remake of ‘Jungle Book’ in 2016 will be applied in the film. He added that it is also great to retell the story of the movie using “a new set of tools and a new technology.”

Favreau said that the memory in the songs and imagery of the scenes are the first things he wants the audience to capture. He wants the fans to be able to remember the 1994 film and feel the same feeling they had when they first saw the original Lion King. Because for you to be able to capture that and give the audience something new and surprising is the “best combo.”

He also commended the artists he worked with in the remake, including songwriters Tim Rice, Elton John, and even Pharell Williams. Favreau’s also gave extra kudos to Donald Glover and Beyonce for bringing something new and exciting as well as adding to the creativeness of the movie.

The Lion King Experience

The remake of the classic film brought actors and artists together to recreate the story of the young lion’s journey back home. Keegan Michael Key shared that “the reason The Lion King has endured is because the inspiration that we’re getting from it is universal.”  Key also reveals that it has been a privilege for him to work with a set of notable actors and people. Actress Alfre Woodard said that “it’s a story that remains true to everybody.” Emmy Award winner John Oliver mentioned that it is everything that you will want from a Disney movie. Glover also shared being part of the live-action movie was an incredible experience for him and described how awed he is on how intimate the process of creating the film is.

The Lion King hits theaters July 19th.
