Sense8: Porn Site xHamster Wants To Renew The Show For Season 3

“Sense8” is a show with a devoted following, diverse cast, and maybe-scientifically-possible narratives on the human psyche. However, all hopes for a continuation of the second season have been crushed by its home, Netflix. The streaming service pulled the plug on the show, citing the expensive production cost per episode as one of the reasons. However, a hero might just save the day for “Sense8” fans. It’s not one to expect; but apparently, porn site xHamster is offering to produce the entire third season of the show.
“Sense8’s” cancellation sparked an online petition for it to remain on Netflix. But despite the massive fan reaction, the streaming service just couldn’t handle the cost of the show. Instead, a two-hour series finale was agreed upon to conclude the story’s premise (Season 2 ended with a huge cliffhanger, and many fans wanted to know what happens to Wolfgang—oops, spoiler).
xHamster: Sense8’s Possible New Home
While the production teams for most shows canceled on Netflix would most likely look for a new home, “Sense8,” on the other hand, has it the other way around. In a letter posted by porn site xHamster, Alex Hawkins—the website’s Vice President—asks showrunners Lana and Lilly Wachowski if they could possibly pick the show up for a third season.
“We recently read that you’re working on a third season of Sense8 despite the fact that Netflix has no plans to renew the series,” Hawkins wrote. “We know it’s unconventional, but we want to bring it back — on xHamster. We’re not talking about a parody, or something less than, but an actual revival of the series.”
Case in point: xHamster has a tremendous amount of traffic (according to Hawkins, they even have more visitors every day than ESPN) and their ability to laser-focus their budget on the production of “Sense8. This way, the show won’t have to compete for funds unlike what it had previously experienced on Netflix.
“We also have the disposition,” Hawkins continued. “We know that a series about polymorphous perversity is a hard sell for a mainstream network like Netflix. We have no such limitations, and also understand implicitly the interconnectedness of sexualities across boundaries. In short, we are a we.”
Should the Wachowskis consider the site as their new home, Hawkins pointed out that it would be very “unlikely.” However, he also notes that the same thing was thought of Netflix several years back.
“We think that our time, like yours, has come,” Hawkins concluded.
The Wachowskis have yet to issue a response to xHamster’s letter.
