With shows like Inside Job getting cancelled, fans are bracing themselves for what other properties are getting canned, but one new series did get the second season greenlight.
In an official announcement, it’s been revealed that the Addams Family spinoff Wednesday is getting a second season. Watch this:
We don’t have any new footage to look at, unless you count the clips of the Wednesday fans from around the world. I guess the voiceover from Jenna Ortega is new, and the series acknowledges the memes that came out of the show, specifically the ‘Wednesday Dance’ that was all over TikTok.
While I would have been fine with a full Addams Family live-action reboot, I guess Wednesday did go in an interesting direction by having the series as a coming-of-age story for one of pop-culture’s most infamous gothic lolis. We don’t know where future seasons may go yet, but it would be great to get more of the Addams—heck, they should make a full movie spinoff while they’re at it.
Here’s the official description for the show:
WEDNESDAY — starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap.
No premiere date has been revealed for Wednesday 2, but you can catch the complete season one now streaming on Netflix.
