Scream 7 has Allegedly been Greenlit

Scream VI hasn’t even come out yet, but word has it that Paramount is doubling down on more Ghostface moving forward.

As per ScreenGeek, Scream 7 is said to have already been greenlit by Paramount. We don’t have any details about the plot yet, but the movie is said to be prepping to shoot sometime later this year. The studio is said to be banking on the film releasing as quickly as Scream VI which came out only a year after Scream 5.

As for the plot of Scream 7, we can only guess what would happen based on how the sixth movie will end. With the latest films starting to kill of franchise veterans and changing locations, it’s possible that the next movie will completely shake up the established Scream formula.

If you ask me, I think Jenna Ortega is going to be the new mascot of the franchise. After the success of Wednesday on Netflix, it would only make sense to bank on her popularity to go hand-in-hand in a franchise like Scream.

Here’s the official description:

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

Scream VI comes to theaters March 10.
