Scoob, the 2020 Scooby-Doo film, has found its young Velma and Fred. According to TheWrap, Warner Bros casts Ariana Greenblatt for young Velma role and Pierce Gagnon as the young Fred.
Greenblatt is known for playing the young Gamora in Avengers: Endgame while Gagnon was previously seen in the movie Tomorrowland. The two joins previously-announced cast members Zac Efron as the adult Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Will Forte as Shaggy, and Frank Welker, who will be reprising the iconic Scooby-Doo voice.
Scooby-Doo 2020 will be directed by Tony Cervone and produced by Chris Columbus, Pam Coats, and Allison Abbate. Charles Roven, Dan Povenmire, Richard Suckle, and Adam Sztykiel are executive producing.
Scooby Fans have been waiting patiently for the release of Scoob since the news of the Scooby-Doo reboot in August 2015. But in early 2017, Warner Bros announced that the supposed release date for the movie in 2018 was moved to May 15, 2020.
What’s New In ‘Scooby-Doo’?
We first saw Scooby-Doo and the gang on the big screen in 2002, where they investigated a series of paranormal incidents in Spooky Island. And later on, In 2004, Scooby-Doo 2: Monster Unleashed was released. The gang stumbled into another supernatural mystery and faced monsters afflicting their town. On the other hand, unlike the first two movies that only featured the Scooby-Doo universe, Scoob will have a major crossover with other Hanna-Barbera universe characters. One of them is Captain Caveman, voiced by Tracy Morgan. Cavey will join the gang to rescue the world from the plans evil of Dick Dastardly.
Lillard Is Not Shaggy Anymore
In March of this year, Matthew Lillard, the original voice actor for Shaggy, expressed his annoyance from being outcasted from the 2020 Scooby-Doo installment. Apparently, the former Shaggy actor found out about being outcasted on Twitter. He went on by saying, “What a crappy way to find out…. thanks Hollywood. You never [cease] to amaze me.”
After waiting almost 5 years for the reboot of Scooby-Doo Film, we are finally seeing the pieces of the movie come together. Scoob is slated for a May 15, 2020 release date.
