While there were plans for a third Deadpool movie, the Disney/Fox merger has put the film in a state of limbo, and everyone has been wondering what will happen to Ryan Reynolds’ version of the Merc with the Mouth.
What’s great is, he’s coming back for a third film set to introduce DP into the main MCU, and as per a recent announcement, Reynolds will be doing so with a very special co-star. Watch the Deadpool 3 announcement here:
Just in case you couldn’t watch the entire video, it’s been confirmed that Hugh Jackman is going to be returning as Wolverine for Deadpool 3. We don’t have any specifics as to the size of Wolverine’s role in the movie, but a rumor is going out that the Logan and Deadpool will be telling the story of a cross-country road trip involving the both of them, but the two have conflicting versions of the events.
It’s kind of odd to see Logan coming back since he did get sent off in spectacular fashion in Logan, but I’m guessing with the whole Multiverse concept, Jackman could be playing an alternate version of Wolverine—maybe one that wears the iconic yellow suit this time?
Personally, I am all up for a whole new roster of X-Men actors, but the chemistry of Reynolds and Jackman is just so fun to watch that a movie with the both of them would do crazy numbers. I’m just crossing my fingers that Marvel Studios doesn’t plan to keep Jackman playing the character for another 10 years.
Deadpool 3 has set a release date for Sept. 6, 2024.
