Rupert Friend Allegedly Cast as the Grand Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi

With The Book of Boba Fett still ongoing, Lucasfilm hasn’t given us a look at the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but we are getting some bits of news on the cast and who they’ll be playing. What’s cool is, it looks like one cast member has been confirmed to be playing a returning face from Star Wars: Rebels.

Bespin Bulletin reports that Rupert Friend (Hitman: Agent 47) has been cast as the Grand Inquisitor, the leader of Jedi hunters that work for the Sith. We don’t know how large the Inquisitors’ role will be in the series, but if they hunt Jedi, then maybe they could be after Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan will have to fend them off; not to mention he has to deal with Vader as well.

It’s funny enough that Friend should be cast as the Grand Inquisitor, seeing as he co-starred with Jason Isaacs (the original voice of the Inquisitor) in Death of Stalin. I guess it’s also funny that he played Agent 47, because Timothy Olyphant, who played Agent 47 first, is also in Star Wars as Marshall Cobb Vanth of Tatooine. What are the odds that Cobb and the Inquisitor would clash?

Disney hasn’t announced when we’re going to get the Kenobi series, but a rumor is going out that it could be sometime around May. With the streaming service having to juggle both Marvel and Star Wars properties, it would make sense that we would get some kind of Star Wars breather after the finale of Boba Fett.

As of now, no official release date has been set for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but you can catch The Book of Boba Fett now on Disney+.
