There’s more mayhem in the latest episode of “Roseanne ” Season 10. The Conners did not pay for their Wi-Fi bill, so they befriend their new neighbors so that they could use the internet since Mary (Jayden Rey) had to Skype with her mom Geena (Xosha Roquemore), currently stationed in Afghanistan. Dan (John Goodman) and DJ (Michael Fishman) come up with a way to earn money after Dan loses an important job and DJ admits post-military life has been hard.
Job Opportunities
Chuck and Dan meet their client, Al (Andy Milder) in a restaurant called La Casita Bonita. After they order, they present their papers to Al. However, Al tells them that he is not going to have the transaction with them. It turns out that someone has offered to do the same job for a lower price. As a consolation, Al offers to pay for their lunch. Chuck and Dan had lost their appetite, but Dan decides to tip the waitress who is his daughter, Becky (Lecy Goranson) using Al’s money.
Dan comes home and tells them that they did not get the job. He and Roseanne proceed to talk in the kitchen. Roseanne is bothered by this, saying that they needed the money. Dan expresses his disappointment in what happened and that they could not pay their bills. Roseanne mentions how she sent the checks for their payment earlier since she thought that the money would arrive for sure. It was just a matter of guessing which one of the places would get paid.
DJ walks in the garage, seeing Dan restoring a bike. Dan asks him about the appointment, and DJ tells him that he sees a therapist since he has been going through some things ever since he got discharged from the army. While they are talking, Dan is surprised at how DJ knows the right tool to be used even without having to tell him. This gives him the idea to start a bike restoring service with DJ, and Dj agrees, as long as he is the one who holds the tools.
New Neighbors
Jackie catches Roseanne spying on their new neighbors. Roseanne quickly labels them as terrorists since they are Muslims and she points out that they have a huge amount of fertilizer in their backyard that she mistakenly thinks would be used for making bombs. Jackie thinks that this is ridiculous and convinces Roseanne to stop spying on them. She tries to correct Roseanne’s misconceptions about Muslims as well as the names of the countries they live in, but she ends up being corrected by their friend, Anne-Marie (Adilah Barnes). Roseanne continues to argue with her, pointing out the fertilizer they have in their backyard. Jackie does see that there is so much fertilizer, but this does not mean that they are terrorists.
Roseanne walks over to where Dan and Chuck (James Pickens Jr) are seated. They are preparing for a meeting with a business client who has a job for them. Roseanne presents the situation to them. While Dan dismisses this as ridiculous, Chuck agrees with Roseanne, saying that the new neighbors may be trying too hard to fit in. DJ and Mary arrive just, and Dan and Chuck leave. DJ has Mary spend the night with them since he has an early appointment the next day. DJ also mentions Mary’s Skype call with her mom, Geena. As DJ gives his instructions, Jackie suggests having a slumber party.
They set up a makeshift tent in the living room. Mark (Ames McNamara) draws a mustache on Jackie. They have a good laugh and Darlene proceeds to take a photo of them. Roseanne suggests taking the photo of them using the phone, so Darlene hands it to her. However, Roseanne throws the phone away to reiterate that she does not want phones to be present with them that night. When Harris (Emma Kenney) arrives with the brownies, Darlene asks if Roseanne wants one, so Darlene throws it in her direction. After this, they proceed to talk about “Ghosted Stories’. Jackie tried to make up a story but was unable to, so Roseanne tells an obvious story about them. She plays with the sounds that Dan makes as he comes home, bearing bad news.
That same night, Roseanne and Dan were already sleeping when Jackie woke Roseanne up, saying that their wifi was cut off. They go downstairs and try to solve the problem. The last time it happened, they just guessed the wifi password of their then-neighbors. But now they have new neighbors, so they do not know the password. They tried guessing the wifi password, but they were unable to, so they decide to go next door and ask for the wifi password.
They go next door holding a plant and a baseball bat. Jackie puts the baseball bat down just as their neighbors open the door. They apologize for the inconvenience then ask for their wifi password. Their neighbors introduce themselves as Fatima Alharazi (Anne Bedian) and Samir Alharazi (Alain Washnevsky). Jackie introduces herself as well. Roseanne presents the situation to Fatima. Samir then voices out the suspicions he guesses that Roseanne and Jackie have, and they laugh uncomfortably. They try to change the situation, saying that they are afraid of them, then Roseanne mentions the ridiculous amount of fertilizers that they have. Fatima’s son wakes up, and Roseanne applauds the boy’s obedience. She then notices the bulletproof vest he wears, and Fatima tells her that it makes him feel safer since they have been receiving threats. Eventually, the couple gives them their password.
Fatima meets Roseanne in the grocery. They have a casual conversation while they pay for their groceries. They encounter a racist cashier. Fatima is thirty dollars short, so Roseanne offers to charge it to her instead. The cashier makes another racist remark just as Fatima leaves. Roseanne gives the cashier a stern warning. That night, Roseanne, Mary, and Jackie talk to Geena through the laptop. They ask Geena about her life there. When they all went to sleep, their doorbell rang. Roseanne opens the door, only to find Samir, paying back the thirty dollars that they owe her. Roseanne asks if Samir had to pay her back at two in the morning, and Samir satisfyingly said that he did.
“Roseanne” continues next Tuesday, May 15th, with “Netflix & Pill” 8/9c on ABC.
