ABC recently announced the revival spinoff of Roseanne, titled The Conners. Roseanne‘s cast members, including both the original show members as well as the grandkids, are returning to the spinoff. After John Goodman confirms that Roseanne Barr’s character, Roseanne, will be killed off from the show, news about the spinoff casting came out shortly. However, the original cast, namely John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky), and Michael Fishman (DJ) are returning.
While the spinoff is a continuation of the revival, it focuses on the Conner Family setup. The Conner grandchildren, namely Emma Kenney (Harris), Ames McNamara (Mark), and Jayden Rey (Mary) are reprising their roles. The grandchildren’s return grants the show an opportunity to start fresh. Also, everyone who worked on the revival will happily get their jobs back. Besides this, the fans of the show will finally have a continuation of the Conners’ story.
Roseanne‘s premiere in March 2018 spiked the highest sitcom ratings in three years. ABC must have seen this, hence their decision to produce a new spinoff. At present, fans are discussing theories about Roseanne Conner’s death. The treatment on Roseanne’s end is perhaps one of the things that the fans wish to see. Other than this, the fans are thankful for the closure they are getting from the spinoff.
The Conners premieres Tuesday, October 16th, at 8/9c on ABC.
