Prepare for a 'Darker, Stranger' Riverdale, Says Cole Sprouse, KJ Apa

KJ Apa and Cole Sprouse reveals what seems to be a diabolical plan for the second season of the hit series Riverdale. Maybe not that ‘diabolical’ but the already-distorted Riverdale will turn even more twisted.

In an interview with TV Line, Jughead actor Cole Sprouse agrees that the avenue to dark Riverdale might just be where the directors are headed.

“I think the whole show is gonna turn darker and stranger,” he says explaining that the appeal of Riverdale as unconventional and different is something the fans fell in love with. The series is pretty much the shadow behind the Archie Comics– and for that reason, fans want it. And what they want, they will get, it seems.

In a different interview with the Mirror, Archie actor KJ Apa was asked about what the fans are to expect on the well-anticipated Season 2. Coincidentally, he uses the same words his co-star mentioned.

“I’m really excited about exploring a different side of Archie we don’t really know about, a darker side after Fred gets shot.” the New Zealand actor said.

In the last episode of the first season, Archie’s father Fred gets shot in the wrong place, wrong time kind of moment at Pop’s. This leaves our lead actor in a pit of utter shock and despair. This heartbreaking moment will sew the strings of Archie’s fate into a thick cloak that will eventually blanket the entire town of Riverdale into a state of darkness. That is, in Archie’s eyes. Thus, the scarier, more mature, Archie.

Season 2 now has an ominous Jughead, a Cherry that has been reborn, and now, a creepy Archie. Hello, ‘darker, stranger’ Riverdale!

Rumors about supernatural Riverdale

Fans have raised their interest in seeing Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Reports say creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been open-minded about the issue. But according to KJ Apa: “Sabrina isn’t set in stone yet. We don’t really know what’s going to happen with that.”

Looks like fans have to keep that to a low because for now, the world should face the earthly horrors circled around the town of Riverdale.
