'Riverdale' Season 2: Cheryl Blossom Gets A New Love Interest

“Riverdale” Season 2 is creeping closer and fans are in for a hell of a season. The Season 1 finale left fans with so many questions like who shot Fred Andrews? And will Jughead Jones become a Southside Serpent? All to be revealed once “Riverdale” Season 2 premiers. The second season will also throw new characters into the mix.
One of the new characters will be Cheryl Blossom’s (Madelaine Petsch) new love interest. Fans saw Cheryl go through a major shift in Season 1, from being the chic mean girl to a vulnerable mess. After discovering her father was the one who murdered her beloved twin brother Jason, Cheryl went through a spiral. But it looks like Cheryl will get a fresh new start this season.

Who is Cheryl Blossom’s New Love Interest in Riverdale Season 2?

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Petsch breaks down what’s next for Cheryl in “Riverdale” Season 2. She mentioned her character hasn’t felt love since her brother tragically died. Petsch adds Cheryl will make a couple of friends this season and ultimately have a love interest.
During the first half of “Riverdale” season, 1 fans assumed Cheryl was in an incestuous relationship with her twin brother Jason. But the idea of “twincest” between the Blossom siblings was put to rest when it was revealed Jason and Polly were secretly engaged. Cheryl also had some romantic tensions brewing between her and Archie at some point in Season 1. But it only lasted one episode.

Season 2 will give Petsch’s character a proper love interest. A few fans speculated her new love interest might be Vanessa Morgan’s character. Morgan will play a bisexual Southside Serpent named Toni Topaz. Petsch has been open to having her character explore all grounds of sexuality.
Petsch did tease her love interest will be a shock to fans. It was recently announced Betty’s long-lost brother Chic will be joining the second season played by Hart Denton. There’s a possibility something could develop between Cheryl and Chic.

Cheryl Blossom Rise From The Ashes

Petsch has described Cheryl as a Pheonix being born from the ashes. The metaphor is being taken literally since we last saw Cheryl burn the Blossom Mansion to the ground. “Riverdale” Season 2 will mark the rebirth of Cheryl Blossom from the ashes of her family’s remains.

Cheryl’s storyline will start as she takes the reins back from her mother. Hell hath no fury like a Cheryl scorned. But unlike the previous season fans will get to see a softer side to Cheryl. People will see Cheryl become closer to Archie and the gang but keeping her razor-sharp wit. All her character wants is to be loved and needs to be loved. Since the only person who has ever loved her was taken away by her own father. It’s nice to see her character finally get some romance and camaraderie after the hell she went through last season.
