Expect a lot of twists and falls on the second season of “Riverdale.” For season 2, Betty (Lili Reinhart) will not let her relationship with Jughead (Cole Sprouse) fall apart without a fight.
Based on the original “Archie” comicbook series, “Riverdale” was one of this year’s best TV series and comic book-based shows on the air. It was originally pitched as a cross between the mysterious “Twin Peaks” and the overly-extra teen drama “The O.C.,” the series managed to cement itself as a balance between those two shows, acquiring its own identity. It centered mainly on Jason Blossom’s murder and the complex relationships between all its teenage characters.
The Fight For Betty and Jughead’s Relationship in Riverdale Season 2
One of the shows surprising—if not shocking—reveals is the romantic relationship between Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones. The state of their relationship, however, was left hanging by a thread towards the end of season one, with Jughead’s fate turning in a very unexpected way.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Riverdale” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased how Betty and Jughead’s relationship will turn out to be in the second season:
“It seems like we end on an ominous note. The fear Betty has is Jughead is going to be sucked into this world that has nothing to do with Betty — he might be going to a new school, living with a new family in a different part of town, he’s joined this gang. All I’ll tease is Betty is not someone who gives up easily. She’s probably the strongest of the kids. If she’s going to start losing Jughead, which may happen, she’s going to fight for him.”
If she’s going to start losing Jughead, which may happen, she’s going to fight for him.
“Riverdale” started off with a love triangle between Betty, Archie and Veronica. As the show progressed, it slowly shifted its focus from the iconic love triangle to very unexpected turn of events. Different characters ended up with people far from who their comic book versions would most probably be with.
After working together to solve the mysteries in “Riverdale,” Betty and Jughead’s relationship turned out to be one effective pairing. But when they were about to commit to each other in a deeper level, Jughead suddenly is inducted into the Southside Serpents, “Riverdale’s” street gang where is father is also a member of. With Juggie being torn between his new friends from Southside and his old friends, it will be hard to see where Betty and Juggie’s relationship will go from here on.
Will they be able to stay together, even as the town they’re in still has more secrets and mysteries more sinister that what they thought?
