Revenge fans are a savvy lot, and as such were pretty sure we hadn’t seen the last of Satoshi Takeda last season. Emily’s elusive and mysterious master of the dark arts of the Revengenda has been a source of constant surprise on the show to date, after all.
However, his latest trick involves a new face. That’s right. This season Takeda will be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa instead of recurring guest star Hiroyuki Sanada. TV Guide reports that Hiroyuki Sanada, currently working with Hugh Jackman on the new Wolverine movie, was simply unavailable, due to his hectic work schedule.
Revenge Producer Melissa Loy told TV Guide that “Geographically, with our schedule being what it is, it was getting a little bit challenging. We would have had to fly him in and out of Australia [where Wolverine was filming], but [still] wouldn’t have had him on the days we necessarily needed him. We tried to figure out a bunch of different scenarios, but ultimately it was too difficult.”
Revenge newcomer Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, whose credits include Heroes and Hawaii Five-0 (as well as multiple Japanese films) will make his debut in the season two premiere on September 30th.
