Back at the Depths
Poseidon inspects his wounds, then whistles his tune again. He sees his hand full of blood and uses it to slick back his hair.
Poseidon asks his foe if he truly has read all his moves. He strikes at lightning speed and wounds Kojiro again. Kojiro is unable to dodge the tempest of strikes raining on him. He tries his best to block but is thoroughly wounded in the process.
He finds himself close to the seabed, now that he’s in deep trouble. Well, losing is nothing new to him.
But the voices of all his teachers and his foes ring in his ear. They all scream for him back at the arena.
Brethren
All the swordsmen on earth are cheering and chanting for him. They instinctively know Kojiro is only about to show his true strength. He’s shed so much blood already, but still, he can grow stronger.
Everything changed when his sword reached the “bottom” of the depths. Suddenly, he can read all of creation, from the earth’s movements to the fluctuations in the air. Kojiro has achieved what gods could do. His technique evolves into Manju Musou.
He can now effortlessly avoid the lightning-quick strikes from Poseidon. With his double-blade technique, he chops off Poseidon’s arm along with his trident. Poseidon strikes for another blow, but the other arm gets severed as well.
First Win
The god bites his trident for more attacks, but the double-blade technique proves too much. Kojiro slashes with both swords at his foe, severing the god’s torso into pieces.
Poseidon’s bloody torso falls; glory sweeps across mankind and the Valkyries. Kojiro breathes a sigh of relief. Heimdall declares him the winner of the third bout.
A human has defeated a god. They are all shocked as they watch Poseidon’s soul shatter before them.
The greatest loser is now experiencing his first victory. He revels in the glory. Brünnhilde is beaming with positivity—this proves humans can beat the gods.
Kojiro collapses from fatigue, but Hrist catches him. She also revels in their victory.
Brünnhilde’s mood returns to composure; she knows there are still six bouts left to win.
Back in Zeus’ room, the old god is nursing his wounds. Shiva sits before him to complain along with Loki, Hermes, and Ares. Zeus explains it can’t be helped. The human proved stronger than Poseidon. They finally recognize what this is about: mankind is strong, and Brünnhilde is determined to defeat the gods. They need to take things seriously.
An enraged Shiva wants to go next, but Zeus stops him. The Greek gods are seething with rage, so they want immediate revenge.
Göll looks for Brünnhilde. She finds her speaking with Hermes, so she asks what they are talking about. She says it’s nothing with a smile.
Street Fight
Heimdall is back in the arena about to announce the next bout. The arena transforms yet again into an ominous, Victorian-era London setting. Mankind’s fighter requested to fight there, and the gods agreed—the first street fight between man and god.
The god audience is angered for the so-called handicap when the first combatant is announced. It is the infamous murderer: Jack the Ripper, the evilest of all evil.
The gods bring forth a Greek hero: half god, half man—Hercules enters on a chariot. Ragnarok continues on.
Our Thoughts
There is a little too much use of still images in this finale; many shots were cut short and looked unpolished. This is disappointing, considering this is the last episode of the season, but the anime is still worth your time if you like the Shounen battle genre. I rate this a 3/5.
