Rachel Zegler Shares New Poster for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Rachel Zegler had starred in a doomed romance with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, and now she’s going to be the center of another one with the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The film is set to come out this November, and we have a new teaser poster.

This was shared by Zegler on Twitter:

Here’s the official description for the movie:

Return to The Hunger Games, the landmark film franchise that has earned over $3 billion globally, with Lionsgate’s adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ #1 New York Times Bestseller The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

Though the story of Katniss Everdeen may have been open and shut, there is still a lot to explore when it comes to the world of The Hunger Games. With the original trilogy taking place around the 70th Hunger Games, it’s pretty interesting to go back and see what the whole thing was like in the earlier days.

Of course, not young adult franchise is complete without an ill-conceived love affair between two people from different social standings. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Lionsgate plans to milk a trilogy out of this one.

Watch out for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes when it comes to cinemas on Nov. 17.
