Rachel Zane’s Future When Meghan Markle Leaves 'Suits' Season 8

Rachel Zane is already done with “Suits” even before the actress playing the character, Meghan Markle, announced her engagement to Prince Harry. The American star has been playing the lead role since “Suits” premiere in 2011.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today following the British prince and Markle’s engagement announcement, “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh revealed that the storyline for the actress’ departure has been decided as early as last year. Korsh admitted that they have already anticipated that the actress will eventually leave the show. This means Markle’s fans could expect an impressive exit.
“I knew from a year ago that this relationship was burgeoning … So collectively with the writers, we decided to take a gamble that these two people were in love and it was going to work out,” he said.

How Will Rachel Zane Be Written Off in “Suits”?

It is unlikely that Meghan Markle will change her mind about pursuing her acting career after her wedding with Prince Harry. So how will her “Suits” character exit the show? There are a couple of possibilities on how Rachel leave Pearson Specter Litt law firm.
Rachel and Mike have been planning their wedding for quite some time now. Hence, it is about time to finally settle down. She may decide to focus her attention on her new life as Mrs. Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) instead of practicing law.
Moreover, it can be recalled that Rachel’s father, Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), had already raised his concern if his daughter and Mike can make time for their married life as they both are busy with their careers. The only problem is that Rachel just passed the bar. She may not want to slow down her career right now.
Another possibility is that Rachel and Mike may receive an offer from another law firm that they couldn’t turn down. Both Adams and Markle’s contracts are set to expire after Season 7. This means the actress may not the only one who will leave the show.

Rachel Will Not Die

Regardless of what will be Meghan Markle’s exit storyline in “Suits,” one thing is most likely – Rachel may not die. Korsh hinted that Rachel may not be written off in a gruesome death at the end of Season 7.
“What we decided to do (was to) say, ‘look, I would rather have good things happen to Meghan in her life’ – which would likely mean her leaving the show. So let’s plan on that and it’s much easier to undo that, if it came to it, than to just plan on her staying forever and then finding out she’s going to go. And the only way to write a character out like that would be if they got hit by a bus or something,” Korsh said.
“Suits” Season 7 is currently on a long midseason break. It will resume in January. In Season 7 finale, it is expected that Rachel and Mike will finally walk down the aisle. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle’s real-life royal wedding with Prince Harry will take place at Windsor Castle in May 2018.
