Puss Takes On the Three Bears in New Clip from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

We don’t know if Dreamworks Animation will be willing to bring back the Shrek franchise soon, but we will be getting a continuation of the spinoff starring Puss in Boots. Just in, we have a new clip from the movie, and it has Puss and Kitty Softpaws escaping Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Granted it’s been more than a decade since the last film, but the premise for this upcoming movie is surprisingly mature, with Puss dealing with his own mortality. Of course, there are still some fun action and comedy moments for the kids, but I can’t help but feel this movie is for the ones who grew up watching Shrek all those years ago.

If anything, I’m thinking this could start some kind of reboot for the franchise. It features an all-new art style akin to that of the Spider-Verse, and I think there’s room to visit Shrek again after all these years. I’m sure the Millenials getting close to 40 will want something to relate to.

For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is slated for a release on Dec. 21.
