Puss Must Restore His 9 Lives in Trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

It’s been more than a decade since the release of the last Puss in Boots film, but now Dreamworks has dropped the first trailer for the upcoming sequel, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Watch this:

This fall, everyone’s favorite leche-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline returns. For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.

Academy Award® nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws (Oscar® nominee Salma Hayek).

Besides Banderas and Hayek as the leads, the movie will also add a third member to their trio in the form of Perro who is voiced by What We Do in the Shadows’ Harvey Guillen.

Just like the previous film, the world will continue to introduce fairy tale characters that will go up against Puss. This time, the big villain will be Goldilocks (Florence Pugh) and the Three Bears with appearances from The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura) and ‘Big’ Jack Horner (John Mulaney). Other members of the cast include Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone, Samson Kayo, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

It has been a while since Dreamworks has come back to the world of Shrek, and some fans are hoping that we could actually get a return from everyone’s favorite ogre. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what The Last Wish has to bring to the table.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish comes to theaters on Sept. 23.
