After The Book of Boba Fett, Disney+ is now gearing up for the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi. We barely know anything about the series, but a rumor has come out that one Skywalker twin will be the reason the plot kicks off.
As per StarWarsNewsNet, the reason Obi-Wan is going to leave Tatooine is because he has to rescue a young Princess Leia. The site wrote:
“We’ve learned that the princess managed to get herself into trouble, even at this young age. From what we’ve heard, it appears that the princess is being held prisoner in a Cantina-like establishment where we will see a healthy mixture of new and familiar creatures. Of course, Obi-Wan’s task will be to rescue the princess. With a young Leia’s significant involvement in the series, we know that her adopted parents will also play a role.”
Before this rumor came out, fans suspected that the story will have something to do with Obi-Wan protecting Luke from Sith Inquisitors. While the threat of the Inquisitors could still be present, having the story focus on Leia’s capture does force Obi-Wan to get off-planet. I mean, aren’t we sick of a Tatooine by now?
With a release set for May, it may be a while before we get our first teaser. For now, it seems that Disney+ is gearing up for their release of Moon Knight in March. After that, they can go back to promoting a Star Wars release.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25.
