Pretty Little Liars Series Recap: Mysterious A.D. Revealed

After seven long years of heavy twists and sharp turns, the famous town of Rosewood is finally at peace. And the best way to say Rosewood is back to being tranquil is by saying that the mysterious identity of A.D.  is now revealed. That, which the final episode entitled “Till Death Do Us Part” just did. Lo and behold, after so many speculations, A.D. is Alex Drake; and Alex Drake, for the record, is Spencer’ Hastings’ evil British twin.

So all this time we didn’t know Spencer had a twin. Much more that her twin is actually the main villain of the story. But before we discuss this long awaited moment of revelation regarding A.D.’s very deceiving and mysterious character, let’s have a quick recap of all that’s happened in the series finale.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Since The Beginning

Four girlfriends lived in Rosewood, Pennsylvania, namely  Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Emily Fields, and Spencer Hastings. However, the clique suddenly fell apart after their leader, Alison DiLaurentis disappeared. She was the popular “Queen Bee” to whom all the rest of the girls tell their deepest and darkest secrets to. After her fall, the four girls went their separate ways. But it wasn’t easy.

Ari moved to Ireland. Hanna lost weight. Spencer has had fuss with her sister Melissa. Emily tried experimenting with her sexuality. So just imagine how devastated these four pretty liars are. And then there came an episode when they had to reunite (Well, of course. This series is about them, after all.). Ever wondered why? Well apparently because all the four girls have been receiving some strange and threatening messages from a mysterious “A.D.” They believed it was Alison because it was Alison who only knew about these secrets this A.D. has been mentioning.

But a little bit of plot twist: Allison’s body has been found. She’s plain dead. Who could be A.D., then?

‘Pretty Little Liars’ final episode: A recap

After all that’s happened, turns out the internet rumor of Spencer having a twin is nothing but true. It’s Alex Drake. She who is a very jealous twin sister. No wonder why all she meant for the girls was harm. And the case for Spencer is totally worse: Alex wanted her body, and she wants it for good.

The finale gathered together all the Liars and everyone else who’ve passed the series. They were all present for Aria and Ezra’s wedding. But Alex couldn’t stop making a scene and kidnapped the groom. This girl had her hands full! And then there came loads of flashbacks and replays of some scene we did not give so much attention to. And those scenes, lead to confirm there was Alex in the whole storyline.

In a brief coda, the whole storyline shifted very abruptly. It was a short fantasy-like sequence set in Paris. At first, the scene seemed to suggest the story was in Mona’s mind, the culprit for Alison’s death. And then there was Alex locked up somewhere. Is this to concluded she captured her underground? Yes, she did.

Finally, the mystery has been solved. It was an ending we all have been waiting for. Congratulations, Pretty Little Liars! You sure did a very great highlight. Deadline also reports there is a possibility for a reunion.

We definitely can’t wait for that.
