Stranger Things took a mid-season break this month, but the series is ready to come back with its final batch of episodes next week. To get people back on the hype train, Netflix has dropped a new trailer for Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2.
Watch this:
The season looks to be following the basic threads that have all been left up in the air with Vol. 1. Nancy seems to have been freed from Vecna’s trance, but it could leave her with some kind of lasting trauma. We also see that Hopper, and the rest of team Russia could be stuck there to uncover some kind of larger mystery.
The batch of characters that seem to be lost from the spotlight is the team comprised of Mike, Will, Jonathan, and Argyle. So far their arc seems to be the weakest of the latest season, and some are holding out that they manage to redeem themselves with Vol. 2. Personally, after rooting for Jonathan since the first season, it’s kind of disappointing to see him kind of degrade into an aimless stoner. Hopefully the Duffer Brothers have some kind of redeeming arc planned for him—because I didn’t watch Nancy and Steve grow so much from the first season just to have them end up with each other again.
The show is in its final leg, with the next season said to be the last. By the end, I’m hoping the Duffer Brothers give us a pretty good explanation on just what the Upside Down is, and why Eleven and her siblings have all their powers.
Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 streams on Netflix on July 1.
