Peter Pan & Wendy Trailer Flies Us Off to Neverland

Disney continues to adapt classic animated films to live-action with varying results. After the middling reception of Pinocchio, the studio is now looking to bring us back to Neverland with Peter Pan & Wendy, and we have our first trailer.

Check this out:

The official movie description reads:

“Peter Pan & Wendy” introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.

No doubt, the biggest star in this film is Jude Law who will be taking over the role of Peter’s nemesis Captain Hook. Admittedly, the role of Hook has always been given to some heavy-hitting actors in the past, with names like Dustin Hoffman and Jason Isaacs having delivered their own versions of the character. I was about to say that Hugh Jackman also played Hook in 2015’s Pan, but he was actually Blackbeard, who was supposedly worse than Captain Hook.

As for Peter Pan & Wendy, it looks like we’re going to be getting a by-the-numbers Disney adaptation, with some changes here and there. I am interested that The Green Knight director David Lowery is attached, but with his previous films being known to be slow, artful slogs, I wonder if he’ll manage to pump up the adrenaline for a character like Peter Pan.

Catch Peter Pan & Wendy when it comes to Disney+ on April 28.
