Though the character of Percy Jackson may be new to Greek mythology, characters like Zeus and other Olypmians had existed for centuries over a thousands of iterations. We’re expecting to meet a handful of gods in the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and we have a look at Zeus (Lance Reddick) and Poseidon (Toby Stephens).

We heard your calls all the way from Olympus. Welcome to #PercyJackson and the Olympians.

Other cast members announced for the show include Timothy Omundson as Hepheastus, Jay Duplass as Hades, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes. The series will also feature Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus and Adam Copeland as Ares.
One huge gripe I’ve always had with the first Percy Jackson movies was that they didn’t really embrace the modernization of the gods, with Zeus and Poseidon showing up in ancient armor. Here, it looks like they’re going a different direction closer to the version in the books, and I can’t wait to watch Percy go head-to-head with these mythological icons.
We don’t know when the series is set to come out yet, but hopefully we get it sooner rather than later. With the first teaser coming out back in September, hopefully we get something around February. Even if they aren’t releasing the show yet, it would do good for Disney+ to keep fans aware that this series is coming—whenever that is.
No release date has been set for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but we should expect the series to come to Disney+ sometime later this year.
